Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon jasmine tea leaves (about 2-3 teaspoons of loose leaf tea)
- Alternative: 1 jasmine tea bag (for convenience)
- 2 cups (475 ml) water
- Honey or sweetener (to taste, optional)
- Lemon slice or mint leaves (for garnish, optional)
Steps
1. Boil Water:
- Heat 2 cups of water in a kettle or pot until it reaches a boil. Then let it cool for about 1-2 minutes to reach the optimal temperature of 175-185°F (80-85°C) for green tea.
2. Prepare the Tea:
- If using loose jasmine tea leaves, place them in a tea infuser or tea ball.
- If using a jasmine tea bag, simply place it in your teacup or teapot.
3. Steep the Tea:
- Pour the hot water over the tea leaves or tea bag in the teacup or teapot.
- Let the tea steep for 2-3 minutes. Steeping for longer can make the tea bitter, so keep a close eye on the time.
4. Remove the Tea:
- Remove the tea infuser or tea bag from the cup or teapot.
- If you used loose tea leaves without an infuser, strain the tea into another cup to remove the leaves.
5. Sweeten and Garnish:
- Add honey or your preferred sweetener if desired.
- Garnish with a lemon slice or a few fresh mint leaves for an added touch of flavor.
6. Serve:
- Serve the jasmine tea hot or let it cool and serve over ice for a refreshing iced jasmine tea.
